Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee tabled Railway Budget 2010-11 in Lok Shabha on Wednesday February 24. The highlight of railway budget 2010 is no increase in passenger fares and introduction of 54 new trains. Mamata Banerjee refereed her Indian Railways budget 2010 as "Budget for the Common Man" during her budget speech.

• New Janmabhoomi train between Ahmedabad and Udhampur

• Special "Bharat Teertha" train to be run around India to commemorate Rabindranath Tagore's 150th birth anniversary

• Matribhumi special trains for women

• 10 more Duronto trains

• Introduce 54 new trains in Financial Year 2010 - 11

• Further extension of Kolkata Metro on priority basis

• 101 new suburban trains for Mumbai

• Extension of 21 trains routes

• Tourist trains to run on 16 routes

• A special train to commemorate Commonwealth Games

• Special freight trains for vegetables, vehicles

• Service charge on AC class cut by Rs. 20 against Rs. 40 earlier and in sleeper class service charge cut by Rs. 10

• No hike in freight fare

• Railways exam fees to be withdrawn for women, minorities and backward classes

• World-class stations to start within timeframe and modern trolleys at all important stations also special drive for passenger amenities and cleanliness

• Six bottling plants to supply fresh drinking water on cheap rates

• Allocated Rs. 1300 crore for passengers amenities

• English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages to be used for railway exams and Examination fee to be waived for poor, minority, SC/ST and women candidates

• Attendants for senior citizens, children and women for boarding and alighting

• Rashtriya swasthya bima yojna to be extended to porters and vendors

• Upgradation of 94 stations, modern toilets at Railway stations

• E-ticket based mobile van to provide reservation at important places like hospitals, court, IT centres and also at panchayat level

• Private operators can run special freight trains

• Houses for all railways employees by next 10 years

• Railways to setup 5 sports academy and also setup multi functional hospitals

• Karmabhoomi trains to be introduced for migrant labour
