Apple has jumped to the bandwagon of gaming platform by launching its ‘Game Center’ for the iPhone 4.0 OS. This was announced by Apple's CEO Steve Jobs at a presentation in San Francisco recently.
This move may be an alarming bell for the gaming majors like Microsoft's Xbox LIVE, Sony's PlayStation Network and Nintendo.
The so called ‘Game Center’ would be launched via the new iPhone platform. And, obviously there is much more expectation from the company due to its huge stock of games in its library. At present, Apple’s App Store has over 50,000 games.
So, Apple’s iPhone can be the online games hub in near future.
Reacting to the ‘Game Center’ news, Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime brushed off the iPhone OS as a ‘viable profit platform for game development', saying that it won’t have any impact on Nintendo’s business.
However, Apple is confident of tackling the situation of being the new player in gaming industry. And, the proposed ‘Game Center’ can be a social gaming console with most of the features that others have.
