Sony NWZ-S540 & NWZ-E440 Walkman Video MP3 players
The NWZ-S540 series integrates Sony’s new and exclusive Digital Linear Phase Speaker System, which claims to enhance the sound quality fromstereo speakers. The S540 is the first Walkman video MP3 player with built-in stereo speakers, which are enhanced by Digital Linear Phase Speaker System technologies. Virtual Bass enhances harmonic signals to reinforce the sensation of deep low-end frequencies.The headphones are enhanced with Clear Audio technologies for a dynamic, detail-packed soundstage, reducing leakage between left and right channels and delivering powerful, controlled low-end frequencies.
The new Walkman S540 series feature the new Alarm function which allows for users to set a daily ‘wake-up call’. A timer function switches off the Walkman within a set time, which helps to preserve battery life. The included Content Transfer software easily transfers files such as music, movies and photos from Windows Explorer, iTunes or even Cyber-shot cameras to the Walkman with its drag-and-drop interface.
The new S Series player supports a variety of codecs , both of the audio and video variety. Audio codecs supported include MP3, WMA (DRM), AAC (non DRM) and Linear PCM. The video codec support includes AVC (H.264/AVC) Baseline Profle, MPEG-4 and WMV(DRM). The new model also supports JPEG photo format.
Combined with its 2.4-inch LCD screen with 240 x 320 resolutions, the NWZ-S540 player allows users to share their favorite music. Weighing in at just 54g, the NWZ-E440 series features a 2.0-inch LCD screen. The NWZ-E440 offers up to 30 hours and 6 hours of music and video playback, whereas The S540 promises 6.5 hours of video playback and 42 hours of music playback.
The NWZ S540 series is available in black color, whereas NWZ -E 440 series is available in pink, violet, red and black. The S540 will be priced at Rs. 6,990 for 4GB and the E440 that’s available in 4GB and 8GB models will be priced at Rs. 5,990 and Rs. 6,990 respectively.
