Somer Thompson’s Body Found

During a press conference today Sheriff Rick Beseler stated that it was in factSomer Thompson’s body foundin a Georgia landfill yesterday. The body of Somer Thompson was identified based upon a birthmark and clothing that Somer Thompson was wearing at the time of her disappearance. A positive I.D. will be made by the medical examiner, but due to the tentative positive I.D. Somer Thompson’s parents were notified.The quick discovery of the child’s body was made by Clay County Sheriff’s who were following procedure. The case had no witnesses, no physical evidence, and no leads. Sheriff Rick Beseler stated that it is routine to follow garbage trucks and to search through garbage.Yesterday, the extremities of a child’s body were discovered in a Georgia landfill. The area was secured and a slew of forensic experts and FBI units were on the scene processing the area.
The landfill is approximately 50 miles from Somer Thompson’s neighborhood and is the area where trash is hauled. Investigators will now focus on recovering evidence that will find and convict theperpetrator or perpetrators of this heinous crime.
