Raj Singh Dungarpur Is No More

Raj Singh Dungarpur, the former president of BCCI, passed away on Saturday morning after prolonged illness. He was 73.
'Rajbhai', as he was commonly known, had been a part of the national cricket selection panel twice. Dungarpur was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Raj Singh, who was a bachelor, was the youngest son of Maharawal Lakshman Singhj.


He had been a first class fast-medium bowler for Rajasthan between 1955-56 and 1970-71.  After he retired from playing, he was an active player in administration and has been the manager to several overseas tours.
Dungarpur had been the manager of Indian cricket team when it won the 1983 World Cup. He had been a part of the selection team which chose Sachin Tendulkar was for the Indian squad in 1989.
His last high-profile BCCI assignment was in 2006 when he was named the manager for the Indian cricket team’s tour of Pakistan.
