Tera Kya Hoga Johnny
Tera Kya Hoga Johnny (Ride the wave! Johnny in English) is a 2008 Bollywood movie directed by critically acclaimed director Sudhir Mishra, starring child actor Sikander in the lead role. Actors Neil Mukesh, Kay Kay Menon, Soha Ali Khan and Karan Nath are also part of the movie. It also stars two filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Aditya Bhattacharya. The movie is about the city of Mumbai, and a child who sells tea on its streets. In the words of the director, "It's set at a time when Mumbai wants to be Shanghai."
Amidst the mayhem of Mumbai's back streets, a pulsating ambition to live life to the fullest thrives, despite danger stalking at every turn. And at the centre of each neighbourhood is usually one good soul who always tries to help everyone, resident or visitor - yet is repeatedly exploited in return. Johnny is one such individual. This friendly youth, who sells coffee from a bicycle, transcends his lowly status with a decency that inspires all those who cross his path. Yet, his goodness is frequently taken advantage of, by the less scrupulous individuals who lurk amidst the mean streets of Mumbai. As a rich brew of intrigue and exploitation bubbles up around our young hero, his ability to maintain his moral integrity comes under unprecedented strain… Director Sudhir Mishra presents a fascinating slice of raw, gritty realism in this powerful tale of morality and society in modern-day Mumbai.
The director has stated that he also wants to make a sequel to the movie.
