'Tamil Padam is a celebration of Kollywood. It will be a perfect mix of films you have watched in the past. It is a decent spoof of Tamil cinema, its characters and sentiments,' says producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri.
Directed by C S Amudhan, an ad-film maker, the movie which has 'Mirchi' Siva in the lead would hit the screens January. 'Siva is playing a college student. His friends are ‘Venniradai’ Murthy, Manobala and M S Bhaskar. Their character names are Bharath, Siddharth and Nakul respectively,' says Amudhan.
He adds: 'Interestingly, these veterans too are playing college students. Though the movie is a satire on Tamil films, we are not intended to hurt anyone. Our sole aim is that audience should have a hearty laugh while watching Tamil Padam.'
When comedy is all about getting timing in dialogue delivery right, how does Mumbai-find Disha Pandey fill the bill? To this question, Amudhan's answer is: 'We would have loved to have a Tamil speaking girl. But Disha caught on really fast. She's done a great job.'
Music seems to be an integral component of the film. Proving this is Kannan, who has come up with some interesting songs. A number 'Oh Maga Zeeya...' has popular words from Tamil chartbusters, coupled with sweet voices of Hariharan and Swetha Mohan.
