National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a screening test for entrance to National Institute of Science, Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy (UM-DAE) Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (CBS), Mumbai. Both these institutions induct students for their integrated M. Sc. program from the result of NEST. The selected students get INSPIRE fellowship provided their performance is satisfactory. The basic requirements for the students who appear for the NEST examination are given below:
Students should have strong desire of pursuing studies in science subjects and should be aspiring to pursue research in science subjects at the highest international levels.
Students must be appearing in 12th standard examination from any recognized board in India and expecting to get at least 60 % marks. Students who have passed this examination in last two years (but not before) with minimum of 60 % marks are also eligible.
More details of eligibility criteria, examination schedule, procedure for application etc will appear on this web site soon.
Some important dates are as given below:

  • Announcement of the exam and activation of website: January 4, 2010
  • Advertisement of the examination: First week of January, 2010
  • Last date for receiving complete application: 31 March 2010
  • Date of Examination: June 6, 2010
  • Results declared (on this web site): June 30, 2010
