SEPTA and its largest union continuing negotiations early this morning, as the strike deadline passes at 12.01 a.m on Friday.
The strike, if it takes place could bring all the transportation to a standstill, with the city buses, subways during the World Series games in Philadelphia was moved to Saturday evening, just hours before the start of Game 3. The union, representing more than 5,000 transit workers, had threatened to go on strike at 12:01 a.m. Saturday if talks with Southeastern Pennsylvania
Transportation Authority did not reach some accord.
The South Philadelphia sports complex readies for tens of thousands of Phillies fans attending game 3 of the World Series, along with Pearl Jam fans heading to the Spectrum’s final night.
SEPTA said it has a contingency plan should the strike occur, but officials have not gone into details, saying the public doesn’t need to know because they are confident a deal will be reached within days.
