Marc Cohn:Singer Marc Cohn is best known for “Walking In Memphis”, a blues pop tune that pays homage to some legendary musicians of that city. Cohn now celebrating a milestone in pop history, the year 1970.
Marc Cohn remembers 1970 like it was yesterday. Only 11 years old at the time, he spent hours listening to a lot of records in a local shop near her home in Cleveland, Ohio. There were new singles by Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, The Guess Who and Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as the latest albums of Simon and Garfunkle, James Taylor and Van Morrison. The store listening booth soundproof headphones with a swivel, and a chair, became “home away from home Marc.”
Marc said that 1970 was the boom was singing and composer.
“There was so much soul and poetry in the music that was issued that anyone predisposed to the music as if I had a very good chance of finding a piece of vinyl that could change your life or seal his fate,” he recalls.
His new album, Play Stand: 1970, in the role of interpreter and as composer recreates a dozen favorite songs from the golden age of pop.

Ultimately, the goal of Marc was to make a classic album that made people feel that they are heard first.
“In the end, this album is my humble attempt to pay a debt of gratitude to the artists who changed my life and bring something new to his work, which, 40 years later, it sounds so vital and poignant as ever,” he says.
Marc is also grateful for the outpouring of support continues to receive as a result of an attempted car theft in 2005 that nearly cost him his life. He wrote about that experience and other life-changing issues in their 2007 album, join the parade.
