The Bloodhound Project is the engineering adventure for the 21st century. The project is trying to achieve the seemingly impossible, the 1,000 mph land speed record!
Bloodhound SSC (Super Sonic Car) is jet and rocket powered with 133,000 ehp (about the same as 180 Formula 1 cars). The first attempt is scheduled for 2011 with an initial target of 800mph. The car will then be reviewed and modified before aiming for 1,000 mph in 2012. A look at the mean machine.
