YSR funeral today
India will pay the last tribute to the saddening death of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy today in his hometown of Pulivendula in Kadapa district.
The public can say their final goodbye to the leader at the Lal Bahadur Stadium.
Hyderabad and the entire country will be seeing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Defence Minister AK Antony and Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Salman Khursheed, along with LK Advani, Rahul Gandhi and massive crowd of common people saluting YSR today at the funeral.
“The state government declares, with deep sense of sorrow, the sudden demise of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy. As a mark of respect to the departed leader, a state mourning is declared for seven days with effect from Thursday. The National Flag will be flown at half mast during the period. There will be no official entertainment,” said Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy in a message to all district collectors.
In the fond memory and respect of the legend, Mr.Reddy, the State government will observe a 7 day mourning period. An order for the offices to remain closed on Friday has been sent to all the central and state government offices in Andhra Pradesh.
