Google’s latest offering: Online music service
Saturday, November 13, 2010
U.S. web search giant Google plans to launch an online music service in India that would enable users to search for legal music streams and downloads, the Wall Street Journal said.
For this purpose Google will be partnering with digital music providers, who hold rights to hundreds of thousands of Indian tracks – ranging from Bollywood hits to Indian classical music.
Google has reportedly partnered with in.com, saavn and saregama.
Google has launched a Labs feature, “Indic Music Search”.
Music tracks can be played from the three partners in pop-up windows that carry ads.
