Fast-food giant McDonald's is recalling 12 million drinking glasses that promote the popular "Shrek" movie after they were found to be tainted with cadmium, US authorities said Friday.
"McDonald's is asking consumers to immediately stop using the glass out of an abundance of caution," said the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, an independent government agency.
US-manufactured "Shrek Forever After 3D" collectable drinking glasses were sold exclusively at McDonald's restaurants nationwide from May for about two dollars each.
The glasses were part of a campaign to promote the movie "Shrek Forever After," produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by Viacom's Paramount Pictures.
