The 36th Annual New York Village Halloween Parade provides train station details to all NYC residents arriving for the excitement Saturday.

The Village Halloween Parade began 35 years ago, started by a Ralph Lee, a Greenwich Village mask maker and puppeteer in 1973. The following year, it was expanded as a theatrical event of sorts, with the intention of creating a mile-long line of masked performers, puppeteers, and musicians on the streets. People noticed and wanted to join in, and the parade grew. Today, over 2,000,000 people attend.

The Parade includes “Hundreds of Puppets, 42 Bands of different types of music, Dancers and Artists, and Thousands of Other New Yorkers inn Costumes of their own creation in this new brand of Carnivale!

To this day, the parade features hundreds of incredible puppets, operated by dozens of volunteers.

The New York Village Halloween Parade starts at 7 p.m. But if you want to be in the parade, you need to get there 30 minutes before. It runs until 11 pm. The location is Greenwich Village, on 6th Avenue South of Spring Street & above Canal right across from HERE Arts Center, theHalloween Parade’s Theatrical Home in NYC.

Those that live near NYC but cannot attend the parade can watch it from the comfort of their own home at NYI News from 8-9:30 p.m. Hopefully, those of us outside of NYC will be able to view clips of the parade on national news.

Organizers remind attendees “The Parade takes until 8:15 to move out. Join the Parade at the beginning and approach the Line-up only from the South and the East. Streets West of 6th are closed by the Police.”
